SAN RAFAEL, Calif., January 8, 2019 – After successfully leading the organization through a three year organizational restructuring, Kim Baenisch, Executive Director of Trips for Kids® Marin will be stepping down from her position at the end March. Founded in 1988, Trips for Kids (TFK) Marin is a non-profit youth cycling organization serving the San Francisco Bay Area.
Brought in as Director of Operations in 2014, Baenisch worked with the board of directors to implement a strategic plan to spin off TFK Marin’s nationwide regional chapter program into a standalone national organization (www.tripsforkids.org) and to facilitate executive management transition of both organizations. Promoted to Executive Director in 2015, she revitalized the organizational operations, infrastructure and staffing to position both organizations for expansion to reach more youth with their pioneering programs.
“It has been an honor to lead the transformation of Trips for Kids for another 30 years of impactful youth development with enhanced programming, community partnerships, technology and branding. After 15 years of executive leadership, I look forward to working with other transforming and entrepreneurial businesses to create operational systems that support sustainable and replicable outcomes for their audiences and customers.” said Kim Baenisch.
“Our heartfelt thanks to Kim for helping guide Trips for Kids through the transition of Marilyn Price’s (our Founder) retirement and the establishment of a new standalone national organization to support TFK chapters across the country.” said Chuck Lesem, Trips for Kids Marin board president. “Kim’s diligent efforts to upgrade our internal operations have set a solid foundation for years to come.”
Over the next three months, the board of directors will conduct a search with for a highly passionate and accomplished leader to champion TFK Marin into its next phase of growth across the Bay Area. Kim Baenisch will assist the board in developing a transition plan to support the staff’s ongoing work and welcome the new leadership through the end of March 2019.
About Trips for Kids Marin
Founded in 1988, Trips for Kids Marin is a 501(c) (3) organization that has touched the lives of over 37,500 disadvantaged San Francisco Bay Area youth through transformative cycling programs. Our Trail Rides and Earn-a-Bike programs and Mobile Bike workshops annually provide over 1,900 low-income youth with opportunities to get outdoors, discover the joy of exercise and learn vocational and life skills. Our Re-Cyclery community bike shop is the ultimate “green business” which repurposes cycling discards in San Rafael’s downtown business district. Rec-Cyclery provides an array of bikes, parts, accessories and clothing donated from individuals, businesses, and manufacturers at discounted prices. Our mechanics refurbish and breathe new life into these donated items to provide safe, affordable transportation for low income families. The Trips for Kids interconnected programs help kids reach their recommended levels of daily physical activity, develop self-esteem, introduce them to STEM activities and environmental stewardship and equip them for jobs.
